Beta Reader Application Task

The main part of the application is completing a demo review task. This allows us to understand how you would approach a real-life beta reading request.

Below, you’ll find two attachments. The first is a sample novel titled Clutch and Release, comprising ten chapters. The second is a book report form that you’ll use to review the sample.

Estimated time commitment: 2–3 hours. This task is for evaluation purposes only and does not require line editing, rewriting, or proofreading.

We recommend completing the review task before proceeding to the application form. Once finished, you’ll be asked to upload your completed book report form as part of your application.

You may complete the task at your own pace, but we recommend submitting it within 7–10 days. We also suggest bookmarking this page so you can easily return to the application form when you are ready.

Submissions are reviewed based on clarity, thoughtfulness, balance, and alignment with our feedback standards. Please note that completing the practice task does not guarantee acceptance into the Quillist Beta Reader network.
